Welcome – I am an economic policy practitioner by profession. I hold a Doctoral Degree in Computational Science (Minor in Financial Mathematics) from University of Cambridge, United Kingdom; Master in Public Policy from Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, Canada; Master of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from University of Glasgow, United Kingdom; and Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering (Honors) from Bharathiar University, India.

My primary fields of interest include financial economics (corporate finance, derivatives, financial and capital markets, corporate governance, behavioral finance, state-owned enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises); macroeconomics and monetary economics (banking and financial crises, banking reform and restructuring, monetary policy transmission, unconventional monetary policies, shadow banking system, credit unions, yield curve, deposit insurance, financial stability, financial regulation and supervision, structural transformation, economic growth and development, blockchains, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies (retail and wholesale), international remittances and cross border payments, models for electronic payments acceptance, digital assets regulations, tokenization, fiscal policy, fiscal consolidation, sovereign debt sustainability, restructuring and reprofiling, debt transparency, debt sustainability analysis and local currency bond market development); public sector management and governance (GovTech, infrastructure governance and public investment management, digitalization of public financial management processes, public expenditure, digital governance, digital financial services, service delivery, political economy, government decentralization, transparency and accountability); social protection and jobs (adaptive social protection, cash and in-kind based transfers, social registries, payment, clearing and settlement systems, care economy and labor market).

My secondary fields of interest include innovation economics (financial and technological innovation, technological spillovers and externalities, political economy of innovation and structured innovation); and urban economics (market forces in the development of competitive cities, housing/infrastructure finance, municipal finance, municipal bonds, land based financing, results based financing, urban water and urban transport) in low- and middle-income countries. I also have experience in operations and advisory services and analytics (ASA) including training programs, workshops and capacity building.

Much of my work combines qualitative and mixed methods to help design more effective policies. More specifically, it draws together a combination of discourse analysis (policy documents, reports, Hansards, meeting minutes and newspaper articles), semi-structured interviews, surveys, focus groups, archival research, comparative analysis, historical institutionalism, comparative democratization, process tracing, fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis/Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA/QCA), field experiments and impact evaluation (randomized controlled trials or A/B testing). In the past, I have used secondary data, as well as development of theoretical models.

When I am not trying to do work or psephology, I enjoy farming, creating terrariums and playing racket sports. And of course, I like nothing other than following Indian, Singapore and fragile states politics.

This personal homepage contains a few bits and pieces of information about my research in the field of public policy. If you can't find what you're looking for or just want to say hello, mail me!
